Eat fruit the right way

April20

any of us think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it, and just popping it into our mouths.  Well, it is not as simple as we think. It’s important to know how and when to eat fruit.

What is the correct way and time to each fruit?

NEVER eat fruits after your meals!

FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit this way, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

Fruit is the most important food.

Let’s say you eat a meal of two slices of bread and a sausage, and follow-through a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots, ferments and turns into acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil . . . and the fresh fruit with it.

So please eat your food on an empty stomach or before your meals.

You have heard of people complaining — “every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I like running to the toilet”.

Actually, all these will not arise if you eat fruit on an empty stomach.  The fruit mixes wil the putrefying other food, and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes — all these will not happen if you eat your fruits on an empty stomach.

All fruits become alkaline in our body, whether they start off acidic or not before we eat them, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton.

If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty,  longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice, drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT the canned ones. Don’t even drink juice that has been heated up. Don’t eat cooked fruits because you don’t get the nutrients at all. You only get the taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a fresh whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, to let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.

You can go on a 3-day fruit diet to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice through the 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but might. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E and fiber Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants and favonoids which enhance the activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among fruits and protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE: The  sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent and dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cnaer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst-quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of  gluthatione, which helps boost your immune system.  They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer-fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are Vitamin C & potassium.

GUAVA and PAPAYA: Top awards for Vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high Vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, which is good for your eyes.

CHIA SEED: Though not a fruit, but  a seed, the chia seed is a whole raw food that’s been proven to provide the highest and most complete dietary needs of the human body than any other food on the planet. One simple has to add a tablespoon or two a day to any soup, beverage, salad, or dish to get omega-3, antioxidants, calcium, iron, selenium, phosphorus, protein, fiber, and so many other essential phytonutrients to regain one’s health and overall nutrition.

DRINKING COLD WATER after a meal = CANCER!

It feels so good to take a cold drink after a meal (especially during these hot and humid days). However the cold water will only solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumes. It will slow down digestion. Once this sludge reacts with the acid, it will break down and absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food.  It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.  It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A SERIOUS NOTE ON HEART ATTACKS

Many, but not all, heart attack patients experience pain in the left arm.  Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.

Sixty percent of people who have a  heart attack while asleep, do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you up from a sound sleep.

How to stay young

March31

1.  Try everything twice.

On one woman’s tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph: “Tried everything twice.loved it both times!”

2.  Keep only cheerful friends.

The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever…. Never let the brain get idle.  ’An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.

Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen:

Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:

Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:

If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips.

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

And if you don’t send this to at least 4 people – who cares? But do share this with someone.

Remember!   Lost time can never be found. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Cafe Juanita

March30

When one in great company, in a restaurant with flavorful food and exquisite ambiance, the mood can be nothing but perfect.

I tasted perfection for a few hours tonight, at the despedida for Peter Lourence, Joji’s lovey-dovey, at Cafe Juanita (West Capitol Drive corner United Avenue in Pasig City).

The small company was composed of Lia Seelin, Marcy Rivera and Cierlene Benipayo, Peter and Joji, and myself. We missed Atty. Deng Cordero and Maita Gomez, who both had a litle time complication then. But that gave us the best excuse to get together again, this time on Deng’s tab.

Despedida for Peter Lourence with Joji, Lia Seelin, Cierlene Rivera and Marcy Rivera

The ambiance and decor of Cafe Juanita is quite difficult to describe in words, and is best experienced.  Got to convince Mari and the girls to explore and have dinner for sometime soon.

Discovering Pancit Habhab

March14

At the 2011 Jubilee Committee meeting yesterday morning, I was introduced to a specialty food from Quezon — the pancit habhab.

It was home-cooked by Joy of Batch 86, and  looked so delicious, with bite-size slices of fried pork sprinkled on top.  I commented that it was the best-tasting pancit canton I have ever tasted. And it really was. I immediately heard a cry of protest: “Hindi yan pancit canton.  Habhab yan.”  It was Joy, the hobbyist chef, who explained that Habhab is a specialty from Quezon, usually sprinkled with some  black vinegar to taste,  and eaten on a piece of banana leaf straight to the mouth. No hand, no utensils.

Our Habhab had been served in two huge metal trays, not on banana leaves which would have been very messy for all of us. But who cares. Habhab was simply delicious.

The Pancit Habhab has been synonymous with Quezon Province. Tourists are willing to travel to this place so they can partake of this wonderful, local specialty food.

Pancit Habhab is a local delicacy of sautéed noodles mixed with chopped pork, shrimps and vegetables. Mixed with just the right amount of onion and garlic, and you already have a complete and filling meal. What adds excitement to eating Pancit Habhab is the fact that it is eaten without using any utensils of any kind. To truly enjoy the noodles, it is placed on a rectangular banana leaf and you must eat using only your mouth. Hence you must be careful as not to spill some on your clothes. It is recommended that Pancit Habhab should be sprinkled with some vinegar to enhance its taste.

Joy ‘s habhab was really oh so yummy, and I had 3 servings, more than my usual lunch. And I also asked to be able to take some home for my husband (and myself too) for later.  As I ate, I wondered if this pancit contained any msg.  I shoved the thought away, and continued to enjoy a gorging lunch.

As I write this story I am craving for more of this delicious habhab, with or without the banana leaf.

March 3 is Omega-3 Awareness Day

March8

The new organization’s website tells us,

“ With over 12520 scientific articles on Omega-3 and their effects on health it is clear that Omega-3’s promote health in every body system.”

That’s why we should all celebrate on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Omega-3 Awareness Day, Inc. is on a mission, “to increase public awareness of the life saving benefits of Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids for everyone at all stages of life,” and we want to help them do just that!  Though the actual event took place in California, we can all get involved worldwide by sharing our experiences and  sources of information about Omega-3 with the world. I my case, I will continue to let know the amazing Omega-3 power that’s packed into MILA, the Miracle Seed!

The Omega-3 Awareness Day website goes on to say:

“They help prevent dementia, promote essential neural and retinal development before birth, improve mood, focus, reading and math scores in children and adults, help in depression, bipolar disorder, ADD, recovery from stroke and brain trauma. Omega-3’s prevent heart disease and help decrease risk of first heart attack, cut the risk of sudden death in half, decrease risk of embolic stroke, lower triglycerides and help with hypertension, helps with Arthritis, Chrohn’s disease, inflammatory conditions, all are affected by Omega-3. Omega-3’s regulate the cytokine cascade and even decrease death from severe infections called sepsis. The list of scientific studies grows every day.

What is extraordinary about Omega-3 is that people can gain significant benefit by increasing their dietary Omega-3 intake by fish or high quality omega-3 supplements.

Omega-3 is a natural nutrient from food and not a drug. It is not publicized by huge campaigns that many life saving drugs have. Yet Omega-3 is life saving and life changing for our children, our families, for everyone. This is why we need to reach out and educate the world on the positive changes Omega-3’s can make in everyone’s lives today.”

Obviously, even among the medical profession, very few aware of newly rediscovered chia seeds as the planet’s highest and safest source of the Omega-3 essential fatty acids, and in the best possible combination  with other fatty acids(Omega-6 and Omega-9).

Fortunately though, many medical practitioners are already learning about MILA chia seeds. Thousands of ordinary people like us are learning that Omega-3 is not a medicine nor a drug.  And Omega-3 can be obtained from many natural plant and animal sources.

My personal choice of Omega-3 is MILA chia seeds, taken daily with soup or juice, and practical any dish I eat.  More information about MILA the miracle seed can be obtained from the Mila Chia Wellness blog, and the Lifemax site.
